BABY UMLAND - 20 WEEKS

Post date: May 23, 2014 1:16:54 PM

Half way there! It's crazy that I have been pregnant for 5 months. Time flies!

A few milestones or things to note:

- 20 Week Ultrasound

- I may have felt movement

- There is a baby bump

- Craving cereal and candy

We had the 20-week ultrasound on Monday. She took 100 images of Baby Umland's head, feet, face, heart, cord insertion, etc. Baby Umland is growing like it's suppose to, measuring right at 20 weeks and weighing in at 12 ounces (Robert measured it like a steak). Yes, this was the ultrasound appointment where we could have found out the gender. We stuck to our plans and still don't know if you are male or female. We look forward to the surprise in the delivery room!

We are starting to look into day care plans for after our baby arrives. Wow, what a process and hit to our pocket book. We received a lot of good advice from friends who've already been through the process. Of course, all our research is in a nice spreadsheet! I now know why moms don't go back to work and they open a daycare! Our ultimate goal is to find a quality caretaker that will meet our baby's physical, mental and educational needs as it grows. Advice is always welcomed!

Baby Umland is still making mom feel good. So blessed! I'm beginning to look and feel pregnant. Everything (stomach, pelvis, uterus, ligaments) are expanding! I can feel it especially when I'm on the softball field and calling pitches from the bucket. Speaking of softball, Baby Umland has 11 sisters who are anxious to meet you and eager to know your name! It's all they want to talk about and then I make them run:) I love that they are so intrigued and supportive. I continue to pray for healthy growth and easy symptoms for the the last 20 weeks.

Baby Umland's Growth:

Baby Umland is around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel — about the size of a banana. He's swallowing more these days, which is good practice for his digestive system. He's also producing meconium, a black, sticky by-product of digestion. This gooey substance will accumulate in his bowels, and you'll see it in his first soiled diaper (some babies pass meconium in the womb or during delivery)

Next Up: We will start moving the office into the basement to make the nursery. We have started collecting baby items. Thank you friends and family for the toys, books, clothes, etc. We are so moved by the generosity of those closest to us.
